Email Alerting Commands 38313Email Alerting CommandsEmail Alerting is an extension of the logging system. The PowerConnectlogging system allows the user to configure a variety of destinations for logmessages. This feature adds email configuration capabilities, by which thelog messages are sent to a configured SMTP server such that an operator mayreceive the log in an e-mail account of their choice.Figure 1: Log Messages Severity LevelThe network operator can adjust the urgent and non-urgent severity levels. These levels are global and apply to all destination email addresses. Logmessages in the urgent group are sent immediately to SMTP server with eachlog message in a separate mail. Log messages in the non-urgent group arebatched into a single email message and after a configurable delay.Only the minimum part (MUA functionality of RFC 4409) required by theswitch or router to send the messages to the SMTP server is supported. SomeSMTP servers insist on authentication before the messages may be receivedby them. The minimum part (MUA functionality of RFC 4954) required bythe switch or router to become authenticated by the SMTP server issupported. Only plain text authentication is supported.Commands in this ChapterThis chapter explains the following commands:emergency (0)alert (1)critical (2)error (3)warning (4)notice (5)info (6)debug (7)Urgent severity levelNon-urgent severity levelemail immediatelyemail in batchnever email
