74 FEATURES1. DENON Proprietary Digital Technology1) NEW D.D.S.C.-Digital (Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit)Powered by four high performance, high speed 32 bit floatingpoint DSP processors, the AVC-A1XV represents the pinnacleof precision DSP processing technology. Unlike competitiveunits, DENON’s discrete surround technology consists ofselected individual processors and ancillary elements, workingin harmony via proprietary DENON inter-IC digital communicationtechnology.2) DENON LinkWith select DENON DVD players that feature DENON Linkdigital outputs, encrypted digital multi-channel audio transfersto the AVC-A1XV directly, eliminating unnecessary digital-to-analog and subsequent analog-to-digital conversions for thehighest possible signal transfer integrity. The DENON Linkfunction supports up to ultra high resolution 192 kHz DVD-Adigital datastreams, for maximum reproduced fidelity.3) Latest AL24 DSP ProcessingDENON’s acclaimed Advanced AL24 DSP processing improvesthe fidelity of high resolution stereo PCM sources such as CDand DVD (up to 192 kHz sampling frequencies), bysophisticated DSP processing algorithms that improve lowlevel detail and enhance fidelity by upsampling and adaptivefiltering techniques. Advanced AL24 provides increaseddynamic range and spatial information; bring out all thenuances with optimum clarity and natural fidelity.4) AL24 DSP Processing For All ChannelsFor the AVC-A1XV, DENON’s AL24 processing supports multi-channel DVD-Audio for all channels, including the ZONE2 multi-channel theater channels, for optimum fidelity and low leveldetail reproduction in both the MAIN ZONE as well as thesecond multi-channel ZONE2 system.2. Latest Surround Decoding Technology1) Dolby DigitalUsing advanced digital audio compression and decodingtechnologies, Dolby Digital provides up to 5.1 channels of widebandwidth, wide dynamic range multi-channel high fidelitysurround sound. Dolby Digital is the default digital multi-channel audio delivery system for DVD and USA/Canada highdefinition television systems.2) Dolby Pro Logic IIxDolby Pro Logic IIx adds the ability to provide up to 7.1 channelreproduction from conventional stereo (2 channel) sources, including surround back reproduction with a 6.1 or 7.1 surroundsound system. Pro Logic IIx has three modes: one for movie-based soundtracks; one for stereo music sources, and a gamemode for game consoles with stereo (2 channel) audio outputs.3) Dolby HeadphoneDeveloped jointly by Dolby Laboratories and Lake TechnologyLtd. of Australia, Dolby Headphone decoding provides thrillingsurround sound effects of your favorite movie and musicsources when using conventional stereo headphones.4) DTS (Digital Theater Systems)DTS provides up to 5.1 channels of wide-range, high fidelitysurround sound from sources such as DTS-encoded CDs,DVDs with DTS soundtracks, and DVD-Audio discs that provideDTS soundtracks.5) DTS-ES Extended Surround and DTS Neo:6The AVC-A1XV also supports the DTS-ES 6.1 matrix anddiscrete encoded surround formats, and also features DTSNeo:6 stereo-to-surround decoding with both Music and Moviemodes for superb surround sound from conventional stereosources.6) DTS 96/24 DecodingDigital Theater Systems 96/24 provides ultra high resolution 24bit, 96 kHz sampling for optimum wide bandwidth fidelity andsuperb dynamic range. The AVC-A1XV is equipped to faithfullydecode DTS 96/24 discs.7) HDCD High Definition Compatible DigitalUsing sophisticated encoding and decoding technologies, theHDCD format provides improved fidelity and dynamic rangefrom encoded Compact Discs (which number in the thousandsof titles). The AVC-A1XV, via a standard digital audio connectionfrom a CD player or DVD player, internally recognizes anddecodes HDCD discs for optimum fidelity and widest dynamicrange.8) Home THX Ultra2 CertifiedHome THX is the unique collaboration between THX Ltd. andaudio/video equipment manufacturers. THX Ultra2 certificationis the highest performance level, and provides a rigorous set ofperformance standards along with proprietary surround soundpost-processing technologies, all designed to maximize thesurround soundtrack playback experience in the home theater. In addition, the AVC-A1XV is fully compatible with THXSurround EX, which provides extended surround sound viaadditional surround back channel reproduction, first employedon Star Wars Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, and featuredon many major motion pictures since. In addition, the AVC-A1XV also incorporates THX’s newTHX Games mode, for thrilling surround sound effects fromtwo channel game box audio sources.3 CAUTIONS ON HANDLING• Switching the input function when input jacks are notconnectedA clicking noise may be produced if the input function is switchedwhen nothing is connected to the input jacks. If this happens, either turn down the MASTER VOLUME control or connectcomponents to the input jacks.• Muting of PRE OUT jacks and SPEAKER terminalsThe PRE OUT jacks and SPEAKER terminals include a mutingcircuit. Because of this, the output signals are greatly reduced forseveral seconds after the power switch is turned on or inputfunction, surround mode or any other-set-up is changed. If thevolume is turned up during this time, the output will be very highafter the muting circuit stops functioning. Always wait until themuting circuit turns off before adjusting the volume.• Whenever the power switch is in the STANDBY state, theapparatus is still connected on AC line voltage. Please be sure to turn off the power switch or unplug the cordwhen you leave home for, say, a vacation.
