ASTAT XL User Manual Fout! Stijl niet gedefinieerd.64 DET-81210.6 Soft BrakingFor applications with high inertia and/or a variable load, the ASTAT XL can be configured for softbraking. In this application the ASTAT XL is employed with forward run and braking contactors. When the ASTATXL receives a start signal (pushbutton S1), it closes the forward run contactor (K1) and controls themotor according to the programmed primary motor settings. When the ASTAT XL receives a stop signal (pushbutton S2), it opens the forward run contactor (K1) andcloses the braking contactor (K2) after a delay of approximately 2-3 seconds (K1T). K12 is also closed toactivate the secondary motor settings, which should be user programmed for the desired stoppingperformance characteristics. When motor speed approaches zero, the zero speed sensor (A2) stops the soft starter and opens thebraking contactor (K2).3 65356123 41 Control voltage (model dependent) A2 Zero speed sensor2 Remote control inputs K10 Run relay3 Motor thermistor input K11 Start relay4 Relay outputs K12 Brake relay5 Three-phase supply K13 Zero speed sensor relay6 Motor terminals K1 Line contactor (Run)K2 Line contactor (Brake)K1T Run delay timerK2T Brake delay timerK3T Zero speed sensor delay timerS1 Start contactS2 Stop contactS3 Reset contactParameter settings:• Parameter 6D Input A Function (terminals 53, 55)• Select 'Motor Set Select' - assigns Input A for Motor set selection.• Set starting performance characteristics using the primary motor set.• Set braking performance characteristics using the secondary motor settings.• Parameter 7G Relay C Function• Select 'Trip' - assigns Trip function to Relay Output C.NOTEIf the ASTAT XL trips on supply frequency (parameter 16F Frequency) when the brakingcontactor K2 opens, modify the frequency protection settings.
