Chapter 2. Taking MeasurementsModel PM880 Portable Hygrometer User’s Manual 21Chapter 2. Taking MeasurementsThe PM880 hygrometer is part of a measurement system that includes theelectronics, cable, probe and optional sample system. Once the electronicsare properly programmed, you must connect the sample system and probesto begin taking measurements. This chapter discusses the steps needed tobegin taking basic measurements.Note: Refer to Appendix A, Measurement Considerations, for moreinformation on selecting measurement sites and sample systemconstruction.• Installing the Probe in a Sample System• Connecting the Sample System to the Process• Connecting the Probe to the Electronics• Recalling a Site File• Operating the Sample System• Conducting a Leak Test• Shutting Down the Sample System2.1 Installing the Probe in a Sample SystemMoisture probes are installed into a portable sample system. The samplesystem protects the probes from coming into contact with damagingelements in the process.CAUTION! If you are mounting the moisture probes directly into theprocess line, you must consult the factory for properinstallation instructions and precautions.
