74 Edge ™ 205/305 Owner’s ManualAPPENDIXSensor PairingWhat is pairing?Pairing is the process of matchingsensors, like your heart ratemonitor and GSC10, with yourEdge 305. This process occursautomatically when you turn onthe Edge and only takes a fewseconds when the sensors areon and functioning correctly.Once paired, your Edge will onlyreceive data from your sensor. How does it work?Upon power up, the Edgewill automatically scan for thesensors you have enabled duringintial setup (see page 12) oraccessories setup (see page 59).Each sensor has a unique ID.The Edge learns and saves thisunique ID while pairing the firsttime. The next time you turn theEdge on, it will only pair with theunique sensor ID. If the Edgedoes not find the sensor, youshould restart the scan to findyour sensor ID.InterferenceStrong electromagnetic fieldscan interfere with your heart ratemonitor and cause your heartrate to appear unusually high, freeze, or disappear. Commonsources of interference includehigh voltage power lines, electricmotors, computers, televisions, and mobile phones. After youmove away from the source ofinterference, your heart ratereading should return to normal.
