USE AND MAINTENANCE56ENGLISHcod. 19501381-3.16 VACUUM PUMPThe aspirator (Fig. 42) creates a vacuum inside the distributors,so that the seeds are aspirated onto the holes in the plate. Thetensioning and good condition of the belt are therefore of vitalimportance to ensure the good for the good operation of theaspirator and, hence, the success of the sowing. The belt is correctly tensioned when it does not yield under thepressure of a hand.WARNINGMake sure that the universal joint is disconnected from thepower take-off before carrying out the following operations:Belt checking procedure:- Remove the protective housing- Loosen the 4 screws (1 Fig. 42)- Loosen the nut (2 Fig. 42)- If worn, replace the belt.- Tension the belt by tightening the screws (3 Fig. 42).- Tighten the bolts loosened before and close the casing.VacuometerThe vacuometer (Fig. 43) a the vacuum measuring device. Theone supplied shows aspiration values ranging from -0 to -100mbar. The average approximate aspiration values for large seedsare: 60 to -70 mbar for small seeds: -40 to -50 mbar.Comply with the number of rpm recommended for the powertake-off.3.17 PREPARING FOR SEEDINGThe planting unit must be correctly adjusted in the field.DANGERCarefully follow the instructions below and perform theoperations in the order they are listed:- From the driverís seat of the tractor, raise the seeder;- Operate the power take-off at 540 rpm;- Using the gear lever, put the tractor engine into neutral;- Brake the tractor and if necessary, secure it with wooden blockssized according to the size of the wheels;- Ensure that no-one can approach the tractor driver's seat;- Check that all the drive shafts are properly engaged.- Carefully check moving parts, dri-ving parts and seeddistribution.- Load the seed hoppers: remember that weights of more than30 kg must either be lifted by more than one operator or theabove-mentioned mechanical lifter must be used following theinstructions included in the relative use and maintenancemanual.WARNINGAll operations must be carried out by trained staff wearing suitableprotection (overalls, gloves, boots, masks etc) in a clean, dust-free environment. When loading the hoppers with seed, and thetanks with fertilizer or insecticide, make sure that no foreign bodies(string, paper bags, etc) get into the tanks.- Manually turn the seeder gear drive wheel in the direction inwhich the machine is moving;- Adjust the selector and control through the transparent grate(Fig. 44) that the plate is only holding one seed per hole;- From the "seed chart" on page 47 the number of seeds requiredcan be determined in advance. fig. 45fig. 44fig. 43-50-60-70-80-90-100 0-10-20-30-40MbarNR - 17NR - 193211fig. 42
