Section 3 • Scheduled Maintenance Procedures June 20123 - 30 GS-30 • GS-32 • GS-46 • GS-47 Part No. 228901C-2Calibrate the Platform OverloadSystem (if equipped)Genie specifications require that this procedure beperformed every 500 hours or six months, whichever comes first OR when the machine failsto lift the maximum rated load.Calibrating the platform overload system regularlyis essential to safe machine operation. Continueduse of an improperly operating platform overloadsystem could result in the system not sensing anoverloaded platform condition. Machine stabilitycould be compromised resulting in the machinetipping over. The platform overload system is designed toprevent machine operation in the event theplatform is overloaded. Models equipped with theplatform overload option are provided with twoadditional machine control components: theoverload pressure transducer and the platformheight sensor. The overload pressure transducer, located at thebarrel-end of the lift cylinder, is used to determinethe pressure inside the lift cylinder. The platform height sensor, located at the steerend of the chassis, battery side, is used todetermine the height of the platform. The overload pressure transducer and the platformheight sensor provide the ECM with necessaryinformation to determine the load in the platform.Note: The overload system will not measure loadsat, or below the height of the Down Limit Switch.Refer to Repair Procedure 9-10,How to Calibratethe Platform Overload System (if equipped).a overload pressure transducerb platform height sensorCHECKLIST C PROCEDURES
