Operator’s ManualPart No. 57.0009.0540 GTH-4013 SX - GTH-4017 SX - GTH-4013 EX - GTH-4017 EX 43First Edition - Second PrintingDescription Of The Machinespecifically designed for load lifting purposes, and bypulleys and pins necessary to the chains to properlyoperate. At the top of the inner section a load handlingattachment articulation is provided with a rotatingcarriage, which can be easily interfaced with anumber of different attachments, and which isactivated by another specific cylinder. This cylinder is hydraulically linked to anothercylinder, hinged between the boom first section leftside and the slewing turret bottom plate, providing anautomatic forks leveling mechanism which maintainsthe forks automatically leveled when the boom ismoved up and down. The different attachments selected for this machinecan be easily replaced and are secured by amechanical pin (standard feature) or by a hydraulicquick lock/unlock cylinder (optional). The boom cylinders described before are driventhrough a main valve which is electrically controlledthrough a main joystick lever located on the rightarmrest of the operator’s seat. This valve is located inthe rear area of the chassis, immediately underneaththe boom hinge articulation.Another hydraulic valve, on/off type, electricallyactuated and located inside the engine compartment, controls the front stabilizers, hinged on the front areaof the machine and actuated by specific hydrauliccylinders hinged between the chassis and thestabilizers legs, and the chassis lateral levelingsystem, activated by another specific cylinder hingedbetween the right side of the chassis and the frontaxle. The operator can activate the stabilizers and thechassis leveling through electrical switches locatedon the left dashboard panel inside the cabin. The other main controls available in the operator’scabin are the steering wheel (to control the machinesteering function), the service brake pedal, theparking brake mechanical lever and the two-speedgear box shifting switch. The steering wheel is mechanically connected toa steering unit which feeds the steering cylindersinstalled on the front and rear axles in such a waythe steering angle is proportional to the steeringwheel turns. The service brake pedal is linked to a brake pumpwhich is hydraulically powered by the third pumpinstalled on the engine distribution PTO and, according to the stroke of the pedal, generates ahydraulic pressure activating the service brakes diskspackage (wet type) which is installed inside the frontand rear axles and works on the axle internal shafts. The same brake disks package installed on therear axle is operated by the parking brake systemthrough an internal mechanism which is mechanicallyactuated and hydraulically released. When theparking brake is released, through the relevanthandle located in the operator’s cabin immediatelyon the left side of the operator’s seat, a hydraulicpressure is applied to the internal mechanism soreleasing the force on the brake disks. When theparking brake is activated this pressure is removedand the internal mechanism pushes on the brakedisks so developing the requested braking force.Another hydraulic cylinder is installed on the backleft side of the chassis and is hinged between thechassis and the rear axle. The aim of this cylinderis to improve the lateral stability of the machine bylocking the rear axle when the boom angle is higherthan a specified value. The operator’s cabin is of full enclosed type andprovided with windshield and glasses to protect theoperator and to the maximum visibility. The operator is seated on a cushioned and adjustableseat and can operate the machine using the specificcontrols which have been properly located insidethe cabin.A dedicated dashboard is provided with all thenecessary controls and gauges necessary toproperly and safely operate the machine. An automatic stability control system is providedwith a display located inside the cabin and showingthe stability status of the machine to the operatorand a strain sensor installed on the rear axle andmeasuring the residual load on the axle. The machine is also equipped with a complete setof road lights allowing a safe circulation on publicroads in dark conditions.A counterweight system is installed on the back areaof the chassis to improve the longitudinal stability ofthe machine.Courtesy of Crane.Market
