SymptomAfter the firewall is powered on, the configuration terminal displays nothing.II. SolutionCheck that:z The power supply is normal.z The console cable is properly connected.If the cause cannot be located in the steps above, the possible reasons are as follows:z The serial port to which the console cable is connected is not the one configured inthe emulation program.z Terminal settings are incorrect. The required settings are as follows: 9600 bits persecond, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no flow control, and VT100 for terminal emulationtype.z The configuration cable is not in good condition.8.3.2 Illegible Characters on the Terminal ScreenI. SymptomAfter the firewall is powered on, the configuration terminal displays illegible characters.II. Solutionz If the “Data bits” field is set to 5 or 6 in the emulation program, illegible charactersappear on the screen. Set this field to the default value 8.z Make sure that the work mode of the AUX port is flow when using the AUX port asthe backup console port.
