9. If you are replacing the system board, continue with step 10 using the newsystem board with the existing shuttle.10. Align the system board with the shuttle and replace the 30 screws that wereremoved in step 5 on page 112 and step 6 on page 112 above. Be sure toreplace the heat sink retention modules, PCI hot-plug card retainer and fanbracket that had been removed.Attention: Do not over-tighten the screws that secure the system board tothe shuttle.11. Slide the replacement shuttle, with its attached system board, in from the rearof the server and close the board locking latch.12. Replace all components in the reverse order from which they were removed.13. Replace the top cover and bezel (see “Installing the server top cover andbezel” on page 95).Replacing the serial port cableComplete the following steps to replace the serial port cable:1. Review “Safety information” on page 145 and “Handling static-sensitive devices”on page 148.2. Turn off the server, disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all externalcables.3. Slide the server out of the rack cabinet until the rails lock into place; then,remove the cover.4. Slide the serial cable and bracket assembly up out of the rear panel.5. Unplug the 2-pin-by-5-pin connector on the serial cable from connector J58 onthe system board and pull the serial cable out through the hole.6. If you are removing the serial cable permanently, install the slot cover for PCIslot 6.7. If you are replacing the serial cable, see “Installing the serial cable” on page 93.8. Install the cover; then, slide the server into the rack cabinet, securing it asbefore.9. Connect all external cables; then, connect all power cords to a power source.FRU information (service only) 113
