Power supply LEDsThe ac and dc power LEDs on a power supply provide status information about thepower supply. The following illustration shows the location of the ac and dc powerLEDs. For more information about interpreting the LEDs, see “Power supply LEDerrors” on page 133.Power supply 3Power supply 2Locking latchLocking handleAC power LEDDC power LEDPower supply 1Table 2. By following the light path, you can quickly identify and fix the type ofproblem that occurred. The light path begins with the LEDs on the operatorinformation panel (also known as the front LED panel). If the server encounters aproblem, it lights either the Information LED or the Fault LED.To isolate the source of the trouble, examine the Level 2 Light Path DiagnosticsLEDs through the special cutout on the server top cover (shown at “Level 2diagnostic panel LEDs” on page 20). These LEDs can indicate a problem with asingle component, or a problem with one of several similar components. In the lattercase, to isolate the specific failing component, remove the server top cover andlook for a lit LED on the system board, memory board, or failing component. For example, if the FAN LED is lit, the specific failing fan is indicated by an LEDviewable with the top cover removed. If the MEM LED is lit, the specific failingDIMM is indicated by an LED on the memory board.Diagnostics 19
