The use ofpermanent SDRAM, replaceable flash memory, and PCI expansion slots on the controller board permits rapid access to storedprinter emulations and fast processing of print data. A variable-speed shuttle and precise paper control enable the printer toprint a wide variety of high-volume jobs with minimum maintenance and maximum reliability.IGP** and Code V** Printronix** emulations are simple but versatile graphics programming languages that load into flashmemory. These printers are therefore excellent bar code and graphics printers.Although technologically advanced, an Infoprint 6500 printer is easy to use. The operator can select every printer function atthe operator panel or by sending printer control codes in the data stream from the host computer. The IBM Infoprint 6500 Printer FamilyThe Infoprint 6500 line matrix printer family consists of pedestal mount and floor cabinet models that print at the speeds shownin Table 1 on page 30. The print speeds listed in Table 1 are the maximum attainable under controlled test conditions. The printspeed of real print jobs is determined by the interaction of many variables and is rarely a single, unchanging speed.Infoprint 6500 printers have quiet and efficient black cabinets and pedestals, a new operator panel, and feature the PSA3**controller board. The PSA3 controller board has faster memory, streamlined architecture, and two PCI expansion slots.NOTE: Infoprint 6500 printers have a redesigned card cage and input/output ports, making the PSA3 controller board andassociated electronic components incompatible with IBM 6400-i or 6400 printers.IMPORTANT When replacing components, be careful to order the correct spares for the model you are servicing.
