Ribbon Guide Assembly (L/R)357Ribbon Guide Assembly (L/R)Removal1. Prepare the printer for maintenance (page 313).NOTE: The right ribbon guide is shown in Figure 46. The removal procedure is the same for the left ribbon guide.2. Cut and remove the tie wrap from the tie wrap hole to free the ribbon guide cable (page 416, Figure 46).3. Cabinet Model: Remove the paper guide assembly (page 348).Pedestal Model: Remove the top cover assembly (page 327).4. Trace the ribbon guide cable back to the controller board, releasing it from the cable restraints as you go. (See cablerouting diagrams on page 282 and page 283.)5. For the left ribbon guide, disconnect connector shell P106 from the controller board. For the right ribbon cable, disconnectconnector shell P107 from the controller board.6. Trace the ribbon guide wires to the connector shell, and remove the cable connector from the connector shell (page 323).7. Remove the two 7/32 inch screws and washers securing the ribbon guide assembly to the side plate. To remove thescrews from the right ribbon guide when the ribbon is still in place, use a small 7/32 inch box-end/open-end wrench.8. Slide the ribbon guide assembly out of the side plate.InstallationNOTE: The right ribbon guide is shown in Figure 46. The installation procedure is the same for the left ribbon guide.1. Reverse steps 2 through 8 of the removal procedure above.2. Align the ribbon guides (page 376).3. Return the printer to normal operation (page 314).
