Chapter 3. Configuring the serverThe following configuration programs come with the server:v Setup utilityThe UEFI Setup Utility program is part of the basic input/output systemfirmware. Use it to change interrupt request (IRQ) settings, change thestartup-device sequence, set the date and time, and set passwords. Forinformation about using this program, see “Using the Setup utility” on page 132.v Boot Manager programThe Boot Manager program is part of the server firmware. Use it to override thestartup sequence that is set in the Setup utility and temporarily assign a deviceto be first in the startup sequence. For more information about using thisprogram, see “Using the Boot Manager program” on page 139.v IBM ServerGuide Setup and Installation CDThe ServerGuide program provides software-setup tools and installation toolsthat are designed for the server. Use this CD during the installation of the serverto configure basic hardware features, such as an integrated SAS/SATA controllerwith RAID capabilities, and to simplify the installation of your operating system. For information about using this CD, see “Using the ServerGuide Setup andInstallation CD” on page 140.v Integrated Management ModuleUse the integrated management module (IMM) for configuration, to update thefirmware and sensor data record/field replaceable unit (SDR/FRU) data, and toremotely manage a network. For information about using the IMM, see “Usingthe integrated management module” on page 142 and the Integrated ManagementModule User's Guide at http://www.ibm.com/systems/support/supportsite.wss/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5079770&brandind=5000008.v VMware ESXi embedded hypervisorAn optional USB flash device with VMware ESXi embedded hypervisor softwareis available for purchase. Hypervisor is virtualization software that enablesmultiple operating systems to run on a host system at the same time. The USBembedded hypervisor flash device installs in USB connector 1 on the low-profile,SAS/SATA riser card in PCI riser slot 2. For more information about using theembedded hypervisor, see “Using the embedded hypervisor” on page 143.v Remote presence capability and blue-screen captureThe remote presence and blue-screen capture features are integrated functions ofthe Integrated Management Module (IMM). The remote presence featureprovides the following functions:– Remotely viewing video with graphics resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 at 75 Hz,regardless of the system state– Remotely accessing the server, using the keyboard and mouse from a remoteclient– Mapping the CD or DVD drive, diskette drive, and USB flash drive on aremote client, and mapping ISO and diskette image files as virtual drives thatare available for use by the server– Uploading a diskette image to the IMM memory and mapping it to the serveras a virtual driveThe blue-screen capture feature captures the video display contents before theIMM restarts the server when the IMM detects an operating-system hang© Copyright IBM Corp. 2011 131
