Logging on to the Web interfaceTo log on to the IMM Web interface, complete the following steps:1. Open a Web browser on a computer that connects to the server and in theAddress or URL field, type the IP address or host name of the IMM to whichyou want to connect.Note: If you are logging on to the IMM for the first time after installation, theIMM defaults to DHCP. If a DHCP host is not available, the IMM assigns astatic IP address of 192.168.70.125. The MAC address tag provides the defaulthostname of the IMM and does not require you to start the server.2. On the Login page, type the user name and password. If you are using theIMM for the first time, you can obtain the user name and password from yoursystem administrator. All login attempts are documented in the event log.Note: The IMM is set initially with a user name of USERID and password ofPASSW0RD (passw0rd with a zero, not a the letter O). You have read/writeaccess. You must change the default password the first time you log on.3. On the Welcome page, type a timeout value (in minutes) in the field that isprovided. The IMM will log you off of the Web interface if your browser isinactive for the number of minutes that you entered for the timeout value.4. Click Continue to start the session. The System Health page provides a quickview of the system status.Enabling the Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Utility programThe Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Utility program is part of the server firmware. Youcan use it to configure the network as a startable device, and you can customizewhere the network startup option appears in the startup sequence. Enable anddisable the Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Utility program from the Setup utility.Configuring the Gigabit Ethernet controllerThe Ethernet controllers are integrated on the system board. They provide aninterface for connecting to a 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or 1 Gbps network and providefull-duplex (FDX) capability, which enables simultaneous transmission andreception of data on the network. If the Ethernet ports in the server supportauto-negotiation, the controllers detect the data-transfer rate (10BASE-T,100BASE-TX, or 1000BASE-T) and duplex mode (full-duplex or half-duplex) of thenetwork and automatically operate at that rate and mode. You do not have to set any jumpers or configure the controllers. However, youmust install a device driver to enable the operating system to address thecontrollers. For device drivers and information about configuring the Ethernetcontrollers, see the Broadcom NetXtreme II Gigabit Ethernet Software CD that comeswith the server.
