Installing an optional IBM ServeRAID M5015 SAS/SATAControllerYou can purchase an optional IBM ServeRAID M5015 SAS/SATA controller. Thisadapter can be installed only in the PCI slots listed in Table 11 on page 71. Forconfiguration information, see the ServeRAID documentation athttp://www.ibm.com/systems/support/.Attention: Some cluster solutions require specific code levels or coordinated codeupdates. If the device is part of a cluster solution, verify that the latest level ofcode is supported for the cluster solution before you update the code.Note:1. Follow the general rule for connecting the SAS signal cables to the adapter anddrive backplane, port 0 on the adapter to port 0 on the drive backplane; thenport 1 on the adapter to port 1 on the drive backplane, port 2 to port 2, andport 3 to port 3 (depending on the drive backplane you install in the server).2. When you install an IBM ServeRAID M5015 SAS/SATA adapter or an IBMServeRAID M5014 SAS/SATA adapter that has an M5000 battery in the server,you must also use the IBM ServeRAID M5000 Series Battery Remote MountCable option to mount the battery remotely in the server.3. You can use this adapter only with 2.5-inch hot-swap drives.4. This adapter can only be used with the 4x2.5-inch drive backplane or the8x2.5-inch backplane installed in the server.5. Read the safety information that begins on page “Safety” on page v and“Installation guidelines” on page 44.2. Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 24) and all attachedperipheral devices. Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all externalcables from the server.3. Remove the top cover (see “Removing the server top cover” on page 46).4.
