Touch the static-protective package that contains the new optical drive to anyunpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove the optical drive from thepackage and place it on a static-protective surface.8. Attach the drive retention clip that you removed from the previous drive to theside of the new drive.9. Align the drive in the drive bay and slide the drive into the CD/DVD drivebay until the drive clicks into place.If you have other devices to install or remove, do so now. Otherwise, go to“Completing the installation” on page 112.Installing a PCI riser-card assemblyTo install a PCI riser-card assembly, complete the following steps:1. Read the safety information that begins on page “Safety” on page v and the“Installation guidelines” on page 44.2. Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 24) and all attachedperipheral devices. Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all externalcables from the server.3. Remove the top cover (see “Removing the server top cover” on page 46).4. Install the adapter in the PCI riser-card assembly (see “Installing an adapter”on page 70).5. Align the PCI riser-card assembly with the PCI slot connector on the systemboard and align nailheads with the slots on the chassis; then, press down firmlyuntil the riser-card assembly is seated correctly in the connector on the systemboard.Chapter 2.
