3-28 Configuring Your SystemFault Resilient Booting (FRB) Timer Enable JumperFault resilient booting insures the system will not stop from a boot problem. Two sets of timers are implemented that will automatically reset the system ifthe system should halt for some reason. FRB 2 - 5 sec timer. If the primary processor does not come up in 5seconds the system will automatically reset and switch to the secondaryprocessor secondary (if installed otherwise it will try to boot again off ofthe primary.) FRB 3 - 7 minute timer. If the system does not make it up to the end ofPOST in 7 minutes, the system will automatically reset and try again. Itis assumed that the processor failed regardless of what may have causedthe system to hang. The primary processor is taken off line and thesystem will boot off the secondary (if installed otherwise it will try toboot again off of the primary.) Bad memory or a bad plug in card maycause a FRB 3 failure. All failures are logged to the system event log.The system will remember all FRB errors and display them at the end of POSTuntil you select the Processor Retest option from the BIOS Setup utility.! CAUTIONFor normal operation leave FRB Timer Enable jumper atfactory-default setting. To disable the FRB Timer Enable:1. Power off the system and remove the left panel as described in Chapter 4 ofthis guide.2. Move the FRB Timer Enable jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3. Refer to“Configuring System Board Jumpers” to see the location of this jumper.3. Replace the panel and power on the system.4. Power on the system and wait for POST to complete.5. Run the SSU to configure the system.
