Print Quality Problems 79TROUBLESHOOTINGP RINT Q UALITY P ROBLEMSThis section discusses potential print quality problems, whatcauses them, and how to resolve them.Here are some suggestions for maintaining the highest printquality from your NEC SuperScript 1450 laser printer.• Replace the Toner Cartridge as soon as the displays thatreplacement is necessary.• Follow the cleaning procedures described in Chapter 8,“Maintaining Your Printer.”• When the print output becomes light, redistribute thetoner. If the light printouts persist, replace the TonerCartridge.• Check to make sure Toner Save is not specified in theprinter driver. It should be turned off.• Check the printer properties to make sure that you areusing the best available print quality option. Adjust theprint resolution from the printer properties.• Use high-quality paper or transparencies to obtain sharp,crisp characters and maximum contrast. Refer toAppendix XX for detailed specifications.Solving Print Quality ProblemsProblem SolutionSolid White If the whole page is blank, the TonerCartridge may either be defective or out oftoner.• The Toner Cartridge may be out of toner.Replace the Toner Cartridge ifnecessary.• The Toner Cartridge may be defective.Remove the Toner Cartridge and checkfor damage. Replace if necessary.Solid Black If the whole page is black:• The Toner Cartridge may not be installedproperly.
