Keyboard Configuration90 Defining Key FunctionsThe options in this dialog enable you to redefine the function ofmost of the keys on your keyboard, including the key combinationslisted below:Key Alt + KeyShift + Key Alt + Shift + KeyControl + Key Alt + Control + KeyControl + Shift + Key Alt + Control + Shift + KeyEach definition may contain a string of up to 127 characters. Thecombined total of all the characters that may be programmed intokeys is determined by the 127 character limit per definition and theamount of memory available in your PC.The Predefined Macros box enables you to select from a list ofstandard functions associated with the current terminal emulation.Clicking the arrow button will display a list box in which the namesof valid key functions (called virtual key names) are shown. Theappendix “Virtual Key Names” on page 451 lists all the functionsand associated virtual key names for each terminal emulation.A key macro may be actioned automatically on start-up, or transmit-ted to the host or actioned locally when the key or key combinationis pressed. This is determined by selecting Normal, Remote, Local orStartup in the list box when defining the key. Selecting Normal willcause the macro to be processed according to the current operatingmode when the key or key combination is pressed.
