File TransferASCII Parameters 395ASCII ParametersThe ASCII Parameters dialog is displayed by clicking the ASCII...button in the Initiate File Transfer dialog. This enables you to setparameters specific to the ASCII protocol.You can save the settings so that they are reasserted the next timeyou run the file transfer utility by selecting the Save Settings optionthen clicking the OK button.Note: The ASCII protocol has additional parameters which can beset in another dialog by pressing theGeneral... button. This dialog isdescribed in the section “General Parameters” on page 390.CR TranslationFactory default: CRThis determines how carriage return characters are interpreted.When set to None, all carriage returns are removed before data istransferred. When set to CR, carriage returns are transmitted as theyare. When set to CR/LF, every carriage return character will beappended with a line feed character.Note: On a PC most text files are delimited by a CR/LF sequence,whereas most mainframes and other systems expect ASCII filesdelimited only with a CR.
