Programming Keys & Buttons448 Including Key Function Combinations & SequencesIncluding Key Function Combinations & SequencesYou can program a key or button to perform the function of a combi-nation or sequence of keys. For example, you can cause a key or but-ton to perform the same function as pressing the keys Alt + F4together, or pressing the keys F2 then F3 then F4.Virtual Key Names Key functions are identified by virtual key names as listed in theappendix “Virtual Key Names” on page 451. The virtual key namehas to be enclosed by the < and > characters in the user definitionbox. You may omit the VK_ and VT_ (etc.) parts of the virtual keyname. For example, the virtual key name for the Return key function whenrunning a DEC VT terminal emulation is VT_RETURN. Youwould enter this in the user definition box as follows:Key Combinations To program a key or button so that it performs the same function aspressing two or more other keys together, type the < character, fol-lowed by the virtual key names linked together with + (plus sign)characters, and end with the > character. For example, to program a key or button so that when it is pressed itperforms the same function as pressing the keys Alt + F4 together, enter the following characters in the user definition box:Key Sequences To program a key or button so that it performs the same function aspressing a sequence of keys one after the other, enter each virtualkey name in the order required, starting and ending each virtual keyname with the < and > characters, respectively. Each enclosedvirtual key name must immediately follow the previous enclosedvirtual key name with no spaces.
