See “Approved Memory Cards” (A21).• Be sure to observe the precautions in the memory card documentation whenyou use the memory card.• Do not affix labels or stickers to the memory card.• Do not format the memory card using a computer.• When a memory card that has been used in another device is used for the firsttime, be sure to format it with this camera.When a new memory card is used, it is recommended to format it with thiscamera first.• Formatting permanently deletes all data in the memory card. Be sure to transferimportant pictures to a computer before formatting.• If the error message “Card is not formatted. Format card?” is displayed when youinsert a memory card into this camera, the memory card must be formatted. Ifthe memory card contains images you wish to keep, select No and save thoseimages on your computer before formatting the memory card. To format thecard, select Yes and press the k button.• Do not perform the following during formatting, while data is being written toor deleted from the memory card, or during data transfer to a computer.Failure to observe this precaution could result in loss of data or damage to thememory card:- Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover to remove the battery ormemory card.- Turn off the camera- Disconnect the AC adapter
