59Features That Can Be Set Using the Multi SelectorShooting FeaturesUsing the Self-timerThe self-timer is suitable for taking group shots including yourself and reducing thevibration when the shutter-release button is pressed.When using the self-timer, use of a tripod is recommended. Set Vibration reductionin the setup menu (A110) to Off when using a tripod to stabilize the camera.1 Press J (n self-timer) on the multi selector.2 Use the multi selector to select n10s (orn2s, n1s) and press the k button.• To change the time for self-timer, press K beforepressing the k button.• n10s (10 seconds): suitable for group pictures.• n2s (2 seconds), n1s (1 second): suitable forpreventing camera shake.• When the shooting mode is set to Pet portrait in scene mode, Y (pet portrait autorelease) is displayed (A42). The self-timer is not available.• The mode selected for the self-timer is displayed.• If the k button is not pressed within a few seconds, the selection will be canceled.3 Frame the picture and press the shutter-release button halfway.• Set the focus and exposure.4 Press the shutter-release button all theway.• The self-timer starts, and the number of secondsremaining before the shutter is released isdisplayed. The self-timer lamp flashes while thetimer is counting down.
