Reference SectionE55Built-in ND FilterWhen the camera's built-in ND filter is used, the amount of light that enters thecamera can be reduced to about one-eighth (equivalent to three steps lower interms of the exposure value) while shooting. Use in situations such as whenoverexposure results from the subject being too bright.C Effects of the Built-in ND FilterUsing the filter may enable the shooting of subjects that are too bright withoutoverexposing the image. It can also be used in situations such as when you want toslow down the shutter speed at a low aperture value. For example, at a shutter speed of 1/2000 second with the correct exposure, if the NDfilter is used to reduce the light in three steps, the speed can be changed to 1/250second without changing the aperture value.Distortion ControlRotate the mode dial to A, B, C, D, E, F or N M d button M A,B, C or D tab (A13) M Built-in ND filterOption DescriptionOn The ND filter is used to reduce the light.Off (default setting) The ND filter is not used.Rotate the mode dial to A, B, C, D, E, F or N M d button M A,B, C or D tab (A13) M Distortion controlOption DescriptionOnThe peripheral distortion that occurs due to theintrinsic characteristics of lenses is corrected. The sizeof the frame is reduced, as compared to whendistortion control is not enabled.Off (default setting) Distortion is not corrected.
