66Shooting FeaturesTaking Images with Manual FocusAvailable when the shooting mode is A, B, C, D, E, F, N, special effectsmode, Sports scene mode, movie mode or movie custom setting mode.1 Press the multi selectorI (p), select E(manual focus), andthen press the kbutton.• An enlarged view of thecenter area of the frame isdisplayed.2 Use the multi selector to adjustthe focus while checking theenlarged view.• Press H to move the focus farther away andpress I to move it closer.• The focus can be adjusted in higher detail byrotating the multi selector than pressing HI.• When K is pressed, first the camera focuseswith autofocus, and then the manual focus can be operated. When aconfirmation dialog is displayed, select Yes and press the k button so thatthe camera focuses on the subject in the center of the frame with autofocus.• Press the shutter-release button halfway to check the composition. Press theshutter-release button all the way to take the image.3 Press the k button.• The set focus is locked.• Press the shutter-release button all the wayto take the image.• To readjust the focus, press the k button todisplay the screen in step 2.C E (Manual Focus)• The digits displayed for the gauge on the right of the monitor in step 2 serve as aguideline for the distance to a subject that is in focus when the gauge indicates thecenter. To change the unit of this gauge, use MF distance indicator units in thesetup menu (A99).• The actual range at which the subject can be in focus varies depending on theaperture value and zoom position.
