59.GlossaryAccess Rules When a user tries to log in to theVPN, either through the Portal pageor through a VPN client, his or hergroup membership determines theaccess rights to different serversand applications on the intranet.This is done by associating one ormore access rules (each containingparameters such as allowed network,ports and paths) with a group.ARP Address Resolution Protocol. Anetwork layer protocol used to convertan IP address into a physical address,such as an Ethernet address. A hostwishing to obtain a physical addressbroadcasts an ARP request onto theTCP/IP network. The host on thenetwork that has the IP address in therequest then replies with its physicalhardware address.Base Profile Refers to links and access rulesspecified for a user group directlyunder the Group level.
