51ICS Remote Tools User GuideChapter 4Connecting to a Norstar system from ICSRTThis chapter describes how to use the ICS Remote Tool (ICSRT) Connection Properties dialog toopen a connection to a target Norstar system.Before you attempt to open a connection, ensure that all the hardware connections are complete.The RAD Installation Guide describes how to install a RAD on a Norstar System.Refer to ìExplaining RAD connectionsî on page 16 for an overview of the different types ofconnections and how to use them.Connecting to a Norstar systemThere are two ways to open a connection to the RAD, both use the Connection Properties dialog:ï you can open a general connection recordï you can open a record for a specific customer.You need to open a connection to a Norstar system to use any of the tools located under the RunTool menu item, except Select Workbook. You also need to ensure that a connection is runningduring scheduled backups or restores. Refer to Chapter 8, ìBacking up and restoring Norstar dataì,on page 107.Connecting manuallyIf you are testing a RAD connection or for some other reason you want to manually enter theconnection information, follow these steps:1 On the Customer Info screen, select the first line (Select this row).2 Click on any of the tools under Run Tool except Select Workbook.The default Connection Properties dialog appears.
