INMBroadband Release 4.1 offers the capability to retrieve and set performancethreshold values through the INM GUI without having to log onto the NE. Thisis done through a PM Threshold Provisioning dialog as shown in Figure 8 onpage 47.Performance threshold values are user identified values associated withperformance management parameters. When a particular performancemanagement parameter crosses the identified threshold, the NE has thecapability of raising a performance threshold crossing alert or alarm. Thisfeature provides interfaces to the users to set and query performance thresholdvalues.Through the GNB, the user can query and set performance thresholdparameters for DS1, DS3, STS1, OC3, OC12, and OC48 facilities for thefollowing products:- NORTEL S/DMS OC-3 TBM (LTE, linear ADM)- NORTEL S/DMS OC-12 (LTE, linear ADM, ring ADM, Regenerator)- NORTEL S/DMS OC-48 (LTE, ring ADM, Regenerator)Depending on the NE and facility chosen, up to two threshold values can beset for most performance management attribute on a facility. When a thresholdcrossing occurs, a threshold crossing performance alarm/alert may begenerated by the network element (the alarms are propagated back to the GNB,whereas the alerts are not propagated to the GNB, but are logged at the NE UI).The user can disable PM threshold reporting for an individual PM attribute orfor a group of facilities through the GNB. In addition, this feature also givesthe user the ability to toggle between threshold crossing alarms or alerts.
