Theory of Operation2.3.2.3 Mirror carriage drive mechanism• Scanner performs the function of irradiating the lamp light uniformly over a documentwhile moving its position, and also of inputting the reflected light to the mirror carriageB via the mirror A. The mirror carriage A is driven by the two timing belts which aredriven by the FBS motor.Scanner moves at the scan speed corresponding to the respective magnificationratios that are set with reference to the standard scanning speed.• Home position of the mirror carriage A is the position where the home sensor islocated. The home sensor position is the reference position of the scanning operation.• The mirrors B and C are fixed to the holder with the relative angle of 90 degrees. Thereflected light from the mirror A is input to the CCD device via the mirrors B and C,and lens.• The mirror carriage B is driven by the FBS motor using a timing belt and pulley. Thelight path length between the document and the lens is maintained to a constantvalue as the mirror carriage B moves at a half speed of the mirror carriage A.1 APS sensor 8 CCD PCB2 BIS sensor 9 Carriage A3 Carriage B 10 Lamp4 BSS sensor (beam sensor) 11 Mirror A5 FBS motor 12 Home sensor6 Inverter 13 Mirror B, Mirror C7 Lens10111294312568713
