11Chapter6 ManipulatingClipswithThumbnailsSelecting ThumbnailsMultiple thumbnails can be randomly selected in thethumbnail screen.1 Usethecursorbuttonstomovethepointer(yellowframe)tothedesiredclipandpresstheSETbutton.• The frame around the selected thumbnail changesto a blue frame. Press the SET button again todeselect the clip.2 Additionalclipscanbeselectedbyrepeatingstep1.It is possible to display only the selected thumbnails in thethumbnail screen for playback. Please refer to [Switchingthe Thumbnail Display] (page 114) for more information. NOTE• To move the pointer to the first or last clip, hold down theSHIFT button and press the up and down cursor ([ / ])buttons.• To select a sequence of clips, select the first clip and movethe pointer to another clip. Then hold down the SHIFT buttonand press the SET button. NOTE• When playing back clips, it is not necessaryto “select” the clips (blue frames around thethumbnails).• Clips with clip numbers displayed in red cannot beplayed.• During playback, pressing the REW button starts 4Xspeed reverse playback, and the FF button starts 4Xspeed fast playback. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button toreturn to normal playback.• During clip playback, pressing the PLAY/PAUSE buttonwill temporarily stop (pause) the process.During a pause, pressing the REW button moves thepause position to the beginning of the clip. Pressingthe REW button again moves the pause position to thebeginning of the previous clip.During a pause, pressing the FF button moves the pauseposition to the beginning of the next clip.• Pressing the STOP button during clip playback stops theplayback and returns the display to the thumbnail screen. NOTE• When playback is stopped, the position of the pointer movesto the clip that was being played back, regardless of whereplayback started.• When the PLAY/PAUSE button is pressed again, playback willstart from the beginning of the clip on which the pointer ispositioned. To begin playback from the last stop position, setPLAYBACK RESUME to on. Refer to [Setting the ThumbnailDisplay Mode] (page 124) for further details.• After closing the thumbnail screen by pressing theTHUMBNAIL button, pressing the PLAY/PAUSE button playsback the first clip (i.e., the clip with the earliest recordingdate and time), not the clip on which the pointer was lastpositioned.
