71Chapter4 AdjustmentsandSettingsforRecordingExternally Locking the Time CodeThe time code generator built into your AG-HPX370P/AG-HPX371E may be locked to an external generator. It is alsopossible to lock an external time code generator to theinternal generator.Connections for externally locking thetime code (examples)As illustrated, both the reference video signals and the timecode must be input.Example 1: Locking the time code toexternal signalsReferencetimecodeReferencevideosignalTCINGENLOCKIN NOTE• In addition to an HD Y reference signal, a composite videosignal can also be input as reference signal.• Input composite video signals when the system mode is 480i(576i) (SD) and 720P.• During HD-Y signal input in 720P system mode, GENLOCKinput for the video signal is applied but the time code isdelayed by 1 field.• If the reference GENLOCK input signal becomes irregularand recording cannot be normally performed, “TEMPORARYPAUSE IRREGULAR FRM SIG” blinks in red in the viewfinderand on the LCD screen and the current clip is divided. Thecontinuity of the time code cannot be guaranteed. Recordingresumes when the signal returns to normal. Recordingwill not resume if interval, one-shot or loop recording is inprogress.Example 2: Connecting two or more AG-HPX370P/AG-HPX371Es withone another, with one beingused as the reference device.ReferencedeviceVIDEOOUTTCOUTTCINGENLOCKINVIDEOOUTTCOUTTCINGENLOCKINVIDEOOUTTCOUT NOTE• Set the menu option TC VIDEO SYNCHRO to TC IN in theOUTPUT SEL screen and the menu option GL PHASE toCOMPOSITE in the OTHER FUNCTIONS screen on both units.• Setting TC VIDEO SYNCHRO in the OUTPUT SEL screen to TCIN will supply the time code via TC IN to the next slave devicewithout delay.• The subcarrier in the VBS signal of the VIDEO OUT connectorof the camera cannot be externally locked. To externally lock the time codeFollow the steps below.1 TurnonthePOWERswitch.2 PositiontheTCGswitchat[F-RUN].3 SettheCOUNTERbuttontoTC.4 Supplyaphase-relationshipreferencetimecode(thatconformstothetimecoderequirements)andreferencevideosignalstotheTCINandGENLOCKINconnectors,respectively.
