Telephone503 When the paged party answers, talk into{MIC}.4 To end the intercom call, press {SP-PHONE}or {LOCATOR/INTERCOM}.3.14.2 Answering intercom callsHandsetWhen a handset is being paged, it will ring andthe Ringer/Message alert indicator will flashrapidly. The display will show the pagingextension’s number.1 Press {TALK}, {SP-PHONE} or{HOLD/INTERCOM} to answer the page.2 To end the intercom call, press {OFF} orplace the handset on the charger.Base unitWhen the base unit is being paged, it will ringand display the paging extension’s number.1 Press {LOCATOR/INTERCOM} or {SP-PHONE} to answer the page.2 To end the intercom call, press {SP-PHONE}or {LOCATOR/INTERCOM}.Note:L The ringer volume for intercom calls followsthe higher level of the 2 lines.When the ringer volume is OFF for both lines(page 28, 29), the handset and the base unitwill ring at the low level when paged.3.15 Transferring a callA telephone call can be transferred between twoextensions using the intercom feature.L Keep the front cover page open for buttonlocations.3.15.1 To transfer a call from thehandset1 During a phone call, press{HOLD/INTERCOM}.L {LINE1} (soft key) or {LINE2} (soft key)flashes and the call will be put on hold.2 To page the base unit, press {0}.To page another handset, enter itsextension number ({1} to {4}).L If you do not wish to announce thetransfer, skip to step 4.3 Wait for the paged party to answer.L If the paged party does not answer, press{LINE1} (soft key) or {LINE2} (soft key)that is flashing to return to the phone call.4 To complete the transfer, press {OFF}.To answer a transferred call with the baseunit:– If the paging party announces thetransfer, the paging extension’s number isdisplayed. Press {SP-PHONE} or{LOCATOR/INTERCOM} to answer thepage.L After the paging party hangs up the call,you can talk to the outside caller.– If the paging party hangs up before youanswer the page, “INCOMING CALL” willbe displayed. Press {SP-PHONE}, or{LINE1} or {LINE2} that is flashing to takethe transferred call.To answer a transferred call with anotherhandset:– If the paging party announces thetransfer, the calling extension will bedisplayed. Press {TALK}, {SP-PHONE} or{HOLD/INTERCOM} to answer the page.L After the paging party hangs up the call,you can talk to the outside caller.– If the paging party hangs up before youanswer the page, “Incoming call” willbe displayed. Press {TALK}, {SP-PHONE},or {LINE1} (soft key) or {LINE2} (soft key) forthe called line to take the transferred call.3.15.2 To transfer a call from thebase unit1 During a phone call, press {TRANSFER}.L {LINE1} or {LINE2} flashes and the callwill be put on hold.During an intercom callL If you have difficulty hearing the otherparty, decrease the speaker volume.L If you receive a phone call while talking onthe intercom, you will hear 2 tones (feature#73 on page 83, feature 13 on page 88 orfeature 0*2 on page 90) and k or lon the handset, or {LINE1} or {LINE2} onthe base unit will flash rapidly. To answerthe call, if you are using the handset,select the called line by pressing {LINE1}(soft key) or {LINE2} (soft key). If you areusing the base unit, select the called lineby pressing {LINE1} or {LINE2}.
