Useful Information43Answering systemCaller information is displayedlate.L Depending on your service provider/telephone company, theunit may display the caller’s information at the 2nd ring or later.L Move closer to the base unit.I cannot dial the phone numberedited in the caller list.L The phone number you dialed might have been editedincorrectly (for example, the long distance “1” or the area codeis missing). Edit the phone number with another pattern (page29).Time on the unit has shifted. L Incorrect time information from incoming Call Display changesthe time. Set the time adjustment to “Manual” (off) (page 23).The 2nd caller’s information is notdisplayed during an outside call.(Visual Call Waiting feature doesnot function.)L In order to use Call Display, Call Waiting, or Visual Call Waiting,you must first contact your service provider/telephone companyand subscribe to the desired service.After subscribing, you may need to contact your serviceprovider/telephone company again to activate this specificservice, even if you already subscribed to both Call Display andVisual Call Waiting services.Problem Cause/solutionThe unit does not record newmessages.L The answering system is turned off. Turn it on (page 30).L The message memory is full. Erase unnecessary messages(page 31).L The recording time is set to “Greeting only”. Change thesetting (page 34).L If you subscribe to a voice mail service, messages are recordedby your service provider/telephone company, not yourtelephone. Change the unit’s number of rings setting or contactyour service provider/telephone company (page 34).I cannot operate the answeringsystem.L Someone is using the unit. Wait for the other user to finish.L A caller is leaving a message. Wait for the caller to finish.L The handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer.I cannot operate the answeringsystem remotely.L You are entering the wrong remote access code. If you forgotthe remote access code, enter the remote access code settingto check your current code (page 32).L Press each key firmly.L The answering system is turned off. Turn it on (page 33).L You are using a rotary/pulse telephone. Try again using atouch-tone phone.While recording a greetingmessage or listening tomessages, the unit rings and theoperation stops.L A call is being received.
