23IMPORTANTFlexible hose must be suitable for 70°C rise whenthe supply connection is above 610mm from thefloor. For LPG, a suitable hose for the gas type andpressure must be used.If in doubt contact, your supplier.Screw connect the threaded end of the hose into thegas inlet in the underside of the connector block onthe back of the cooker. After completing the gas connection, check thecooker is gas sound with a pressure test. Whenchecking for gas leaks do not use washing upliquid - this can corrode. Use a product specificallymanufactured for leak detection.Pressure testingThe gas pressure can be measured at one of thehotplate burner jets (NOT a Wok burner). Make surethat the cooker is not connected to the electricitysupply. Lift off a burner head. Fit the pressure gaugeto the jet. Turn on one of the other burners and lightit with a match. Turn on the control for the hotplateburner to which the pressure gauge is fitted. Pressin the knob to allow the gas through and register thepressure on the gauge. For Natural Gas cookers the pressure should be20mbar/25mbarFor LP Gas cookers the pressure should be28/30mbar for Butane37mbar for Propane.Reassemble burner top, making sure it is reassembledin the correct way on the burner body.Electrical ConnectionWARNING: THIS COOKER MUST BE EARTHED.All external wiring must comply with the Regulations inforce and any regulations for the Electrical Equipmentof Buildings. Connection to the electrical supply can bemade with either a plug and socket or be permanentlywired via a double pole switch. The cooker is suppliedwith a 3 core cable 2m long. If a replacement cable isfitted it must be 250v high temperature PVC (85°C),1mm 2 . Should the plug not fit the socket in your home,it should be removed and replaced with a suitableplug. Note: If a plug is fitted which is not suitable, itmust be cut off and disposed of properly. To avoid therisk of electrocution, the plug must not be left wherechildren might find it and plug it into a supply socket.IMPORTANT The wires in the mains lead are colouredin accordance with the following code:-GREEN AND YELLOW: EARTHBLUE: NEUTRALBROWN: LIVEElectrical checksEARTH CONTINUITY CHECKThe cooker must be disconnected from the powersupply. Set your meter to (ohm) on the X1 scale andadjust to zero if necessary.Test the leads from any of the cooker’s earth points(e.g. inside electric box cover) - to the earth pin onthe cooker’s plug - resistance should be less than1 (ohm). If it is not, check all the earth wires forcontinuity. Check that all contacts are clean andtight. Re-check. If the resistance is still greater than1 (ohm) there may be a problem, consult a qualifiedelectrical engineer.POLARITY CHECKThe cooker must be connected to the power supply.Your meter should be set on 300V ac scale.Test at the cooker terminal block:1. Test leads from L to N. Your meter should read approx.220-240V ac.2. Test leads from L to E. Your meter should read approx.220-240V ac.3. Test leads from N to E. Your meter should readapprox. 0-15V ac.If the readings are different from these values thereis an electrical fault. Rectify any fault and repeat thetest. If necessary repeat the test at the supply systemsocket/spur - if the fault also occurs at this stage thenthere is a house system fault which requires attentionby the Electrical Authority. The customer should be warned NOT to use theappliance until this examination has been carried out.Hotplate checkCheck each burner in turn. Each burner has a flamesafety device (FSD) that stops the flow of gas to theburner if the flame goes out.For each burner, press ignition switch on facia paneland push in and turn the knob to the solid flamesymbol ( ).Keep holding the knob pressed in to let the gasthrough to the burner for few seconds. If, when you letgo of the control knob, the burner goes out, the safetydevice has not held in. Turn the control to the offposition and wait one minute, then try again this timeholding in the control knob for slightly longer.Grill checkOpen the grill compartment door. There is an FSD which stops the flow of gas to thegrill if the flame goes out. Turn the knob to the largeflame symbol ( ). Press in the grill knob. This lets gasthrough to the burner. Keep holding the knob pressedin and press the igniter button or light with a match.Keep holding the button for about 10 secondsIf when you let go of the control knob the burner goesout, the safety device has not held in. Turn off the grilland wait one minute then try again this time holding inthe button for slightly longer.
