SAFETY, OPERATORS & MAINTENANCE MANUALen-357 OPERATION7.2 OPERATOR PRESENCE AND SAFETY INTERLOCK SYSTEM1. The operator presence & safety interlock system prevents the engine from starting unless the parkingbrake is on, and the mowing device is switched off. The system stops the engine if the operator leaves theseat with the parking brake disengaged. If the operator leaves the seat with the mowing device engagedand the parking brake on the mowing device will stop.2. Perform each of the following tests to ensure the operator presence & safety interlock system isfunctioning properly. Stop the test and have the system inspected and repaired if any of the tests fail aslisted below:• The engine does not start in test 1;• The engine does start during tests 2 or 3.• The engine continues to run during test 4.3. Refer to the chart below for each test and follow the check (9 ) marks across the chart. Shut engine offbetween each test.Test 1: Represents normal starting procedure. The operator is seated, parking brake is on, the operatorsfeet are off the pedals and the mower engagement device is off.
