Chapter 3: Working with Target Servers50Scanning PortsThe KX II provides a port scanning feature that searches for selectedtargets and displays them in a slide show view, allowing you to monitorup to 32 targets at one time. You can connect to targets or focus on aspecific target as needed. Scans can include standard targets, bladeservers, tiered Dominion devices, and KVM switch ports.Note: Scanning for tiered devices is not supported by the Multi-PlatformClient (MPC).When you start a scan, the Port Scan window opens. As each target isfound, it is displayed as a thumbnail in a slide show. The slide showscrolls through the target thumbnails based on the default interval of 10seconds or according to the interval you specify. As the scan scrollsthrough the targets, the target that is the focus of the slide show displaysin the center of the page. See Scan SettingsYou can change the time between the slide show thumbnail rotation, thethumbnail focus interval, and the page display settings from the ScanSettings tab of the Virtual KVM Client (VKC), Active KVM Client (AKC)and Multi-Platform Client (MPC) Tools > Options dialog. See ScanSettings. The name of the target is displayed below its thumbnail and in the taskbar at the bottom of the window. If a target is busy, a blank screen isdisplayed instead of the target server access page. The status of each target is indicated by green, yellow and red lights thatare displayed below the target thumbnail and, as the target is the focusof the rotation, in the task bar. The status lights indicate the following: Green - the target is up/idle or up/connected Yellow - the target is down but connected Red - the target is down/idle, busy, or otherwise not accessibleThis feature is available from the Local Port, Virtual KVM Client (VKC),Active KVM Client (AKC) and Multi-Platform Client (MPC).Note: MPC uses a different method for initiating a scan than the otherRaritan clients. See Set Scan Group in the KVM and Serial ClientGuide for details. The scan results and scan options differ between theRemote Console and the Local Console. See Scanning Ports - LocalConsole (on page 265).To scan for targets:1. Click the Set Scan tab on the Port Access page.2. Select the targets you want to include in the scan by selecting thecheckbox to the left of each target, or select the checkbox at the topof the target column to select all targets.
