Chapter 11: KX III Local Console342Local Console Video Resolution BehaviorBy default, monitors are typically set to the highest resolution theysupport.Once a monitor is connected to the KX III Local Console, KX III detectsthe monitor's native resolution. As long as the native resolution issupported by the Local Console, KX III uses that resolution. If the native resolution is not supported by the Local Console, and noother resolution is supported by the monitor and Local Console, KX IIIuses the resolution of the last monitor that was connected to the LocalConsole. For example, you connect a monitor set to a resolution of1600x1200@60Hz to the KX III Local Console. KX III uses that resolutionsince it is supported by the Local Console. If the next monitor you connect to the Local Console is not set to asupported resolution, KX III uses the resolution of 1024x768@60.For a list of supported Local Console video resolutions, see SupportedKX III Local Port DVI Resolutions (see "KX III Supported Local PortDVI Resolutions" on page 378).Consider reviewing Video Mode and Resolution Notes (on page 409)for additional information.Simultaneous UsersThe KX III Local Console provides an independent access path to theconnected KVM target servers.Using the Local Console does not prevent other users fromsimultaneously connecting over the network. And even when remoteusers are connected to the KX III, you can still simultaneously accessyour servers from the rack via the Local Console.Local Port Hot Keys and Connect KeysBecause the KX III Local Console interface is completely replaced by theinterface for the target device you are accessing, a hot key is used todisconnect from a target and return to the local port GUI.A connect key is used to connect to a target or switch between targets. The Local Port hot key allows you to rapidly access the KX III LocalConsole user interface when a target device is currently being viewed.See Select the Local Port Hotkey (on page 145) and Select the LocalPort Connect Key (on page 146) for more information.
