62Section 6: ContactsThis section explains how to use and manage yourContacts List. You can save phone numbers to yourphone’s memory.AccountsFrom the Accounts menu you decide if you wantapplications to synchronize, send, and receive data atany given time, or if you want the applications tosynchronize automatically. After determining how youwant the accounts to synchronize, indicate whichaccount to synchronize with your Contacts list.1. Sign in to your Google account.2. Press ➔ and then tap(Settings) ➔ Accounts and sync.– or –From the Home screen, press and thentap Settings ➔ Accounts and sync.3. From the General sync settings section, touchone of the following options:• Background data: allows your phone to use data inthe background.• Auto-sync: automatically synchronizes your data withthe phone.4. From the Manage accounts area, tap nextto the account you want to synchronize.– or –Tap Add account to create a new account.5. Tap an account type to add.6. Follow the on-screen instructions. The selectedaccount type synchronizes with your Contactslist.Contacts ListCreating a ContactThe default storagelocation for savingphone numbers toyour Contacts List isyour phone’s built-inmemory.If existing Googleand Corporate emailaccounts have beensynchronized to yourphone, these will bemade available toyour device duringthe creation of new entries. These new Contactsentries can be assigned or saved to synced accountssuch as Phone, SIM, Google, or Corporate.Your phone automatically sorts the Contacts entriesalphabetically. You can create either a Phone, SIM,Google, or Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync contact.Note: Before you can save a contact to the Phone, Contactsettings must be set to Save new contacts to Phone.
