28Abbreviated DialingAbbreviated Dialing is similar to speed dialing. Youcan use either of the following abbreviated dialingfeatures.• Contacts Match – Retrieve any number saved in yourContacts by entering the last four digits of the number.Press to dial the retrieved number.• Prepend/Abbreviated Dialing – Prepend the first five orsix digits (for example, the area code and prefix) to anyfour or five digits you enter. Press to dial theresulting number.To place a call using Contacts Match AbbreviatedDialing:1. Enter the last four to six digits of a Contactsentry’s phone number.2. Press to call the displayed number. (Ifthere is more than one matched number in yourContacts, your phone displays the Abbrev. Diallist.3. Highlight a contact name and press toplace a call.)To place a call using Prepend Abbreviated Dialing:1. Enter the last four or five digits of the number.2. Press .Dialing From the Contacts List1. Press MENU ➔ Contacts.2. Highlight the entry you want to call and pressto dial the entry’s default phone number.– or –To dial another number from the entry, highlightthe name and press , and then highlight anumber and press .Speed DialingYou can store up to 99 numbers in your phone’s speeddial memory. Dial speed dial entries using onekeypress for locations 2–9 or two key presses forlocations 10–99.Setting up Speed DialYou can assign speed dial numbers when you add anew Contacts entry, when you add a new phonenumber to an existing entry, or when you edit anexisting number.1. Add a phone number to a new or to an existingContacts entry.2. Highlight the recently added number and pressOPTIONS ➔ Set Speed Dial.3. Highlight an available speed dial location andpress ASSIGN.
