125Access Codes124Access CodesThere are several access codes that are used byyour phone and its SIM card. These codes helpyou protect the phone against unauthorised use.When requested for any of the codes explainedbelow, key in the appropriate code (displayed asasterisks) and press the OK soft key. If youmake a mistake, press the C key one or moretimes until the incorrect digit is cleared and thencontinue entering the correct code.The access codes, except for the PUK (PINUnblocking Key) and PUK2 codes can bechanged using Security menu options (Menu4.6). See page 92 for further details.Important! Avoid using access codesresembling emergency numbers,such as 999, so that you do not dialan emergency number accidentally.Phone PasswordThe Phone Lock feature uses the phonepassword to protect your phone againstunauthorised use. The phone password issupplied with the phone and is factory set to“00000000.”To Refer toActivate/deactivate the Page 93Phone Lock feature (Menu 4.6.3).Change the phone Page 93password (Menu 4.6.4).PINThe Personal Identification Number or PIN (4 to8 digits) protects your SIM card againstunauthorised use. It is usually supplied with theSIM card.If you enter an incorrect PIN three times insuccession, the code is disabled and cannot beused until you re-enable it by entering the PUK(see below).To Refer toActivate/deactivate Page 92the PIN Check feature (Menu 4.6.1).Change the PIN Page 93(Menu 4.6.2).PUKThe 8-digit PUK (PIN Unblocking Key) isrequired to change a disabled PIN. The PUK maybe supplied with the SIM card. If not, or youhave lost it, contact your service provider.To re-enable your PIN:1. Key in the PUK and press the OK soft key.2. Enter a new PIN of your choice and press theOK soft key.3. When the Confirm New PIN message isdisplayed, key in the same code again andpress the OK soft key.If you enter an incorrect PUK ten times insuccession, the SIM card becomes invalid.Contact your service provider for a new card.
