English 64CAMERA SENSITIVITY - ISOFive camera sensitivity settings can be selected for still images: Auto, 50,100, 200, 400. The numerical values are based on an ISO equivalent; thehigher the number, the more sensitive the film.Sensitivity can be changed in section 2 of the recording menu (page 57). Thiscannot be changed with movie recording or digital subject programs.Sensitivity can be assigned to the controller (page 62).The auto setting automatically adjusts thecamera sensitivity to the light conditionsbetween ISO 50 and ISO 160. When anysetting other than auto is used, “ISO” andthe set value appear on the LCD monitor.A specific sensitivity setting can beselected. As the ISO value doubles, thecamera sensitivity doubles. Like grain insilver-halide film that increases withspeed, noise increases with the sensitivityin digital imaging; an ISO setting of 50 hasthe least noise and 400 has the most.Camera NotesNoise reduction is applied automatically to exposures of one second orlonger. Processing is applied to each image after it is captured. Theprocessing time varies from image to image; a processing message isdisplayed during this period.FLASH RANGE AND CAMERA SENSITIVITYBecause of the optical system, the flash range is not the same at the lens’wide-angle position as it is at the telephoto position.ISO setting Flash range (wide angle) Flash range (telephoto)AUTO501002004000.2 m to 3.2 m (0.7 ft. to 10.5 ft.)0.2 m to 1.8 m (0.7 ft. to 5.9 ft.)0.2 m to 2.5 m (0.7 ft. to 8.2 ft.)0.2 m to 3.6 m (0.7 ft. to 11.8 ft.)0.25 m to 5.0 m (0.8 ft. to 16.4 ft.)0.1 m to 1.8 m (0.3 ft. to 5.9 ft.)0.1 m to 1.0 m (0.3 ft. to 3.3 ft.)0.1 m to 1.4 m (0.3 ft. to 4.6 ft.)0.1 m to 2.0 m (0.3 ft. to 6.6 ft.)0.1 m to 2.8 m (0.3 ft. to 9.2 ft.)Camera sensitivity
