TASCAM MD-CD1MKIII 37To eject the disc from the deck, press the EJECTbutton during stop mode.NOTEWhen UTOC Writing! is flashing on the display, dataon the recorded contents is being written onto the disc.During this process, if the power cord is unplugged fromthe power source, or the unit is moved or disturbed, thisessential data cannot be correctly recorded on the disc.Recording cautionsWhen “W_Protected!” is displayedThe inserted MD cannot be recorded, or a playback onlyMD was inserted.Close the write protect tab to enable recording.To prevent accidental erasure of the recordingAfter the source has been recorded onto an MD, slide theprotect tab to open the hole.NOTEThis unit conforms to SCMS. If connected digitally, thefollowing restrictions apply:MD recordingOriginal First generation Second generationCopy-protected Not permitted Not permittedOnly firstgenerationOK Not permittedCopy possible OK OKUpdate (Move up) a track numberIf tracks are numbered, it is convenient when editing orcuing the tracks. During recording, track numbers areentered automatically, and may also be entered manuallyeither during or after recording.NOTEIf a CD or MD is digitally recorded, the track numbers areautomatically updated according to the track numberupdating of the source, and the Auto Track function in–**dB (Level in A_TRK?) does not work.For digital recording from any sources other than CD andMD, the Auto Track function in –**dB (Level inA_TRK?) works.Auto track functionThis function automatically enters track numbers duringrecording.Set this function using the AUTO TRACK button on theremote control to select OFF, –**dB, DD or TIME.You can also set the auto track function using the A_TRK? option in the REC sub-menu of the MD menu. (Toset –**dB, select Level from the A_TRK? option.)–**dBIf the signal falls below the Auto Track operation level formore than 2.5 seconds, a track number is automaticallyentered. To set this operation level, use the A_TRKLEVEL? option on the REC sub-menu of the MD menu.The level can be set between –72 dB to –30 dB in 6 dBincrements.TIME (Time Track Increment)When the specified time (Auto Track operation time) hasexpired, track numbers will be updated automatically. Setthis operation time using the A_TRK TIME? optionon the REC sub-menu of the MD menu. The settingrange is from one minute to 10 minutes (in one minuteincrements).NOTEEven when the power is turned off, the Auto Track, Auto•Track Level and Auto Track Time settings are retained.If you change the Auto Track operation time during•recording, the change will be applied beginning withthe next track.When the auto track mode is• Time and the pre-recording function is activated, the first track willbecome longer by the specified pre-recording timethan the time set in A_TRK TIME?.Update a track number manuallyPressing the RECORD button during recording updatesthe track numbers.NOTEWhen a track is divided manually, any new tracks must belonger than 4 seconds.Update a track number after recordingTrack numbers can be updated during editing operation.Refer to “Divide tracks (DIVIDE)” on page 41.Or you can reduce the number of tracks by combiningtracks using editing functions.
