RD 12A Operationwc_tx001071gb.fm 37• Reduce travel speed and watch the drum position carefully whenoperating along the edge of an elevated surface.• Keep as much of the drum on the elevated surface as possible.Vibrating on a compacted surfaceActivating the vibratory system on a fully compacted surface maycause the drums to rebound and momentarily lose contact with theground. If this occurs while the machine is on an incline, the machinemay slide.• If the drums rebound on the compacted surface, reduce vibrationspeed or stop vibration entirely.Operation on SlopesSee Graphic: wc_gr003448When operating on slopes or hills special care must be taken to reducethe risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment. Always operatethe machine up and down hills rather than from side to side. For safeoperation and for protection of the engine, continuous duty use shouldbe restricted to front/rear slopes of 17° (30% grade) or less.NEVER operate machine on side slopes. The machine may roll over, even on stable ground. Always operate the machine parallel to theslope; never perpendicular.4.17 Before StartingBefore starting the machine check the following:• Engine oil levelWARNINGwc_gr00344817˚30%
