H24d Operating Instructions29OFFSTARTOON (RUN)SIgnition SwitchEngine ThrottleThe throttle control lever (red knob) is located onthe left side of the seat and is used to controlengine speed. Moving the lever forward towardthe FAST position increases engine speed; mov-ing it back ward toward the IDLE position decreas-es engine speed.ThrottleThrottle LocationBody LatchThe front portion of the tractor body hinges forwardfor maintenance access and is latched down in theOPERATING position. To raise the body, first tiltthe utility bed back, then pull back and up on bodylatch and lift the body from behind the seat.BodyLatchBody LatchForward Speed Control (FSC)Forward Speed Control (FSC) has two functions:One is to set forward travel speed, and the other isto establish the NEUTRAL-PARK position. Whenthe FSC lever is moved into the FORWARD posi-tion, a friction lock holds any forward speed settingfrom 0 to 10 mph (0 to 16 km/h). The groundspeed is proportional to the lever position; thefurther the lever is advanced forward, the faster thetractor moves. It is not necessary to hold the FSCin position since the friction lock maintains theselected lever position. Pulling back on the steer-ing levers overrides the FSC setting and slows orstops forward travel. Releasing the steering leversallows the tractor to resume forward travel at thespeed set by the FSC lever. To stop and park themachine, the FSC lever is moved backward to theNEUTRAL-PARK position.
