Operating Instructions H24d34Roll-Over Protection System (ROPS)WARNINGThe ROPS may offer enhanced operatorprotection in the event of a roll-over typeaccident, but only if used correctly. Failureto comply with the following ROPSinstructions can result in serious injury ordeath if a roll-over occurs. Read andunderstand the following ROPS instruc-tions before operating the machine.● Keep the ROPS roll bar in the upright andlocked position when operating the machine.o Always use the seat belt when the ROPSroll bar is in the upright position.o Make sure that the seat belt can bereleased quickly in the event of anemergency.o Make sure that the mower body hold-downlatch is engaged.● Lower the ROPS roll bar only when absolutelynecessary for overhead clearance reasons.o Never use the seat belt if the ROPS rollbar is not in the fully upright and lockedposition.o Never lower the ROPS roll bar whenoperating in areas where there are slopes,drop offs, or other roll-over hazards.o Be aware there is no roll-over protectionwhen the roll bar is lowered.o Raise and lock the ROPS roll bar as soonas overhead clearance permits.● Check for overhead clearance (e.g., branches,doorways, electrical wires) before drivingunder any objects and be careful to avoidcontact.To Lower the ROPS Roll Bar:1. Loosen the two (2) tension knobs.2. Remove the two (2) hitch pins.3. Remove the two (2) locking pins.4. Lower the roll bar.5. Replace the locking pins and secure them withthe hitch pins.To Raise and Lock the ROPS Roll Bar:1. Remove the two (2) hitch pins.2. Remove the two (2) locking pins.3. Raise the roll bar to the upright position.4. Install the two (2) locking pins and securethem with the two (2) hitch pins.5.
