Operating Instructions46Dumping the CatcherDANGERDo not mow or dump grass within 5 feet(1.5 meters) of an embankment or retainingwall with drop off.For dumping, the catcher either tailgate dumps intoa disposal area or dumps into the optional dumpbag. The dump bag is a reusable nylon fabric bagdesigned to conveniently move grass clippings fromthe catcher to a remote disposal area or container.CAUTIONUse leg muscles and firm footing when lift-ing the catcher to dump; avoid bending atthe waist and using back muscles in orderto prevent back injury.Tailgate Dumping1. Open the back door by lifting on the door handle.2. Tilt the catcher back to dump by lifting on thecatcher lift handle on the lower front corner ofthe catcher.3. Lower the catcher smoothly down to the normaloperating position. DO NOT allow the catcherto drop down - the gas spring, that holds thecatcher in the raised position, is not a shockabsorber for lowering the catcher.4. Close the door by holding the door handle.The door will close smoothly with the assis-tance of the gas springs. If the dampeningsprings are not functioning properly, theyshould be replaced to prevent the door fromslamming closed and possibly causing a pinchpoint.Using the Dump Bag1. Open the back door by lifting on the door handle.2. Orient the dump bag with one (or two) of thehandle straps on the bag opening facing up.Tailgate DoorHandleHook Bagon BumperPositioning Dump Bag on Catcher3. Hook the bottom of the bag over the rear bum-per while lifting on the handle strap(s).4. Tilt the catcher back to dump into the bag bylifting on the catcher lift handle on the lowerfront corner of the catcher with the one handwhile continuing to hold up on the bag strap(s)with the other hand. Refer to photos for posi-tioning the bag and dumping.
