This certification means that the equipment meetscertain telecommunications network protective, operational, andsafety requirements. The Department does not guarantee theequipment will operate to the user’s satisfaction.• Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it ispermissible to be connected to the facilities of the localtelecommunications company. The equipment must also beinstalled using an acceptable method of connection. In somecases, the company's inside wiring associated with a singleline individual service may be extended by means of acertified connector assembly (telephone extension cord). Thecustomer should be aware that compliance with the aboveconditions may not prevent degradation of service in somesituations.• Repairs to certified equipment should be made by anauthorized Canadian maintenance facility designated by thesupplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to thisequipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give thetelecommunications company cause to request the user todisconnect the equipment.• Users should ensure for their own protection that theelectrical ground connections of the power utility, telephonelines and internal metallic water pipe system, if present, areconnected together. This precaution may be particularlyimportant in rural areas.WARNINGUsers should not attempt to make such connectionsthemselves, but should contact the electric inspectionauthority or electrician, as appropriate.• The Load Number (LN) assigned to each terminal devicedenotes the percentage of the total load to be connected to atelephone loop which is used by the device, to preventoverloading. The termination on a loop may consist of anycombination of devices subject only to the requirement thatthe total of the Load Numbers of all the devices does notexceed 100.
