If this happens, the Telephone Company will provideadvance notice in order for you to make necessary modifications to maintain uninterrupted service.If trouble is experienced with this Xerox equipment, for repair or warranty information, please contactthe appropriate service center; details of which are displayed either on the machine or containedwithin the User Guide. If the equipment is causing harm to the telephone network, the TelephoneCompany may request that you disconnect the equipment until the problem is resolved.Repairs to the machine should be made only by a Xerox Service Representative or an authorized XeroxService provider. This applies at any time during or after the service warranty period. If unauthorizedrepair is performed, the remainder of the warranty period is null and void. This equipment must not beused on party lines. Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact the state publicutility commission, public service commission or corporation commission for information.If your office has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, make sure that theinstallation of this Xerox equipment does not disable your alarm equipment.If you have questions about what will disable alarm equipment, consult your Telephone Company or aqualified installer.CanadaNote: The Industry Canada label identifies certified equipment. This certification means that theequipment meets certain telecommunications network protective, operational and safetyrequirements as prescribed in the appropriate Terminal Equipment Technical Requirementsdocument(s). The Department does not guarantee the equipment will operate to the user’ssatisfaction.Note: Before installing this equipment, users must make sure that it is permissible to be connectedto the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The equipment must also be installedusing an acceptable method of connection. The customer should be aware that compliance withthe above conditions may not prevent degradation of service in some situations.Note: Repairs to certified equipment should be coordinated by a representative designated by thesupplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions,may give the telecommunications company cause to request the user to disconnect theequipment.Note: Users should make sure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of thepower utility, telephone lines and internal metallic water pipe systems, if present, are connectedtogether. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas.Note: Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact theappropriate electric inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate.The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) assigned to each terminal device provides an indication of themaximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The termination onan interface may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the requirement that the sumof the Ringer Equivalent Numbers of all of the devices does not exceed 5.
