Set the RF PWR control fullyclockwise.Ç Close the microphone’s PTT switch to activate thetransmitter, and speak into the microphone in anormal voice level. Release the PTT switch whenyou wish to return to the receive mode.É The microphone gain is set to a fixed value at thefactory. However, the Menu system includes pro-vision for adjusting the microphone gain, if needed.To adjust the microphone gain:l Press the [MENU] button to activate the Menumode of operation.l Rotate the SUB-TUNE knob to select Menu #25(“ FM-PSET”).l Rotate the MEM/VFO CH knob to adjust themic gain. You may select from the default value(“ 32 ”) or a value on an arbitrary scale of 0 ~63. The “O F F ” selection transfers control of theFM mic gain to the front panel’s MIC (GAIN)control.l Press the [MENU] key to exit the Menu mode.l Close the microphone’s PTT switch, and speakinto the microphone to check the mic gain level.If further adjustment is required, repeat theabove procedure.Note: Because of international regulations, the per-missible deviation on 29 MHz is about one-halfof that typically used on 50 MHz and higher.Therefore, it is normal for 29 MHz FM signalsnot to have as much audio “punch” as do FMsignals on, for example, 2 meters.
